Well… it’s just days until the start of my 2008 chase season.
The van is setup, except for the laptop (more about this in a moment). It looks like there will be SOME sort of storms on next Saturday (5/24), so we could be off to a quick start this year. Given that I’ll be out for almost 3 weeks, I’d be sorely disappointed if we didn’t see SOMETHING this year.
I continue to revamp the beta web site, but have had little time this week due to activities at work. The coming week should be much better, and I hope to mainstream the beta site pages by midweek. One challenge is that I’m down two of the three computers I typically use at home, both because of dead fans. What’s stranger is that I purchase the laptop and desktop with bad fans at the same place, the same day. What are the odds, eh?
I have yet to collect my camera gear for its pre-season checkout; hopefully, tomorrow holds the time I need for this. The HDD camcorder probably has old vid that needs to be burned to DVD, and the lenses on my still cameras probably all need a good bath by now. Add in cleaning for my backup miniDV cams (one of which may serves as webcam for live feeds during the trip) and I’ll have a busy afternoon. It’s just as well that I have a quiet indoor activity tomorrow.
I spent most of today weeding, mowing and fertilizing the lawn, so my outdoor self is pretty satisfied for now (and I won’t worry about the Bolingbrook weed code enforcement officers issuing me tickets while I’m gone chasing).
