2009 1 weeks of 'tourist' chasing, then weekend chases around Chicago-land. Watch our 2009 blog for updates 2008 3 weeks of continuous chasing, using a new chase van. Accumulated some new hail dings! Watch our 2008 blog for updates 2007 A very long 10-day chase. Lisa did much of the 4,300 miles driving, covering 8 states: IL,IA,SD,ND,KS,OK,TX,CO. A new first: having a shear marker centered on our GPS position, waiting out 70+ mile-an-hour straigtline winds. 2006 2 tornadoes at Patricia, TX and another at Mertzton, TX in early May. 2005 Started a new job, so no vacation. Did some solo chases & local severe weather spotting for LOT 2004 Three weeks chasing with Bill Reid & Scott Weberpal. Saw 6 tornadoes in 2 hours at Limon, CO. 2003 What a treat to be in Tornado Alley during a historic tornado outbreak (380+ reported from May 4-10)! Saw tornadoes near Yates Center, KS , Oklahoma City (at night) and Joplin, MO. 2002 An early May barrage, including the Happy, TX F2 and Greensburg/Pratt, KS storms 2001 Added a dedicated chase vehicle, but few storms around Chicago. Late May chasing in OK/TX/KS yields a night tornado near Perryton, OK and a near miss of the White Deer, TX tornado. 2000 New job, new town, no vacation. 1999 Stationed at Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station, Antarctica (another adventure!).
